The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) 4-Day Onsite Training Workshop provides comprehensive training on essential concepts and practices in monitoring and evaluation within development projects and programs. Course Objectives:

• Understand the fundamental principles and concepts of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) within the context of development projects and programs.
• Learn to design and develop comprehensive MEAL frameworks tailored to project objectives, activities, and stakeholders.
• Develop skills in selecting and developing appropriate indicators to measure project progress and outcomes.
• Gain proficiency in designing and implementing data collection methods and tools, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and participatory approaches.
• Learn techniques for data analysis, interpretation, and synthesis to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
• Explore strategies for utilizing monitoring and evaluation findings for organizational learning, adaptive management, and decision-making.
• Understand the importance of accountability mechanisms, including feedback loops and beneficiary participation, in ensuring project effectiveness and transparency.

Course Structure:

Day 1: Introduction to MEAL in Development Projects

• Overview of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) concepts and frameworks
• Understanding the importance of MEAL in project design, implementation, and management
• Introduction to key components of MEAL systems and their interrelationships

Day 2: Designing MEAL Frameworks and Indicators

• Developing comprehensive MEAL frameworks tailored to project objectives and stakeholders
• Selecting and developing appropriate indicators to measure project progress and outcomes
• Practical exercises and group discussions on designing MEAL frameworks and indicators

Day 3: Data Collection Methods and Tools

• Overview of data collection methods, including quantitative and qualitative approaches
• Developing data collection tools, such as surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory methods
• Hands-on exercises and role-plays on conducting data collection activities

Day 4: Data Analysis and Utilization

• Techniques for data analysis, interpretation, and synthesis to generate actionable insights and recommendations
• Utilizing monitoring and evaluation findings for organizational learning, adaptive management, and decision-making
• Case studies and group discussions on data analysis and utilization in development projects

Day 5: Accountability and Learning

• Understanding the importance of accountability mechanisms, including feedback loops and beneficiary participation
• Strategies for promoting organizational learning and knowledge sharing within development projects
• Developing MEAL plans and systems for ongoing project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning

Each day includes interactive lectures, case studies, hands-on exercises, and group discussions to reinforce learning and application of MEAL concepts and practices. Participants will leave the workshop equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement effective MEAL systems and enhance project impact and effectiveness.

Material Includes

  • • The training sessions will take place onsite, providing face-to-face interaction. Our expert facilitators will deliver the training in English. Each day will consist of two sessions: a morning session from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an afternoon session from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • • Certification: Showcase your competence and expertise with a certificate of completion issued by Stratford International BDLC upon successful completion
